On December 11th, 2020 at 11:30am, Loon Lake Conservation Officers came across a dead bull elk near Half Moon Lake, just Southwest of St. Walburg, SK. While officers were at the scene, a vehicle stopped and stated they saw a dark blue, newer half-ton truck sitting in a bluff of trees on the South side of the field and a newer white Ford truck sitting on the road, which both drove away soon after being seen. The elk was still fresh when officers arrived and with the information provided, it is believed the elk had been shot 30-45 minutes prior to it being located. The elk was left to waste with no attempt to retrieve it.
