Aquatic invasive species are organisms that, when introduced into Saskatchewan’s waterways, can cause environmental, recreational, or economic harm. Whether returning home from out of province or moving between waters within the province, make sure to clean and inspect your watercraft and gear, remove all debris, drain and rinse your equipment, dry your watercraft and all related gear in the sun if rinsing is not available, and drain all onboard water from your watercraft. In Saskatchewan drain plugs must be removed during transportation and storage. Watercraft entering into Saskatchewan from other jurisdictions pose a risk for transporting aquatic invasive species. All out of province watercraft or watercraft that have traveled outside of Saskatchewan are subject to an inspection.

To report the suspected transport of invasive species, call the Toll-Free Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment Turn In Poachers & Polluters Line 1-800-667-7561 or #5555 from a Sasktel cellphone (phone calls only, no text messages). You can also report online at saskatchewan.ca/tipp. Remember, you can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward if your information leads to a conviction.
