On September 23rd, 2021, Prince Albert Conservation Officers received information on the TIPP Line regarding a bear carcass, with no tag, dumped on Muskeg Lake First Nations land. The investigation confirmed that a bear carcass had been dragged from adjacent land, under a barbed wire fence and onto the Muskeg Lake First Nations land approximately one mile East of Martens Lake and Highway #12. The bear had been skinned, paws removed and the rib cage had been split. There was no evidence at the scene to indicate who may have committed the offence. It is believed by the decomposition of the bear that the incident likely happened about a week prior.
