On January 4, 2025, Beauval Conservation Officers received a Turn in Poachers call reporting that a moose was killed the night prior along the Highway 155 Road Corridor Game Preserve, approximately 20km south of Beauval. Upon arrival at the location, officers were able to locate and follow a blood trail from where the moose appeared to have been killed. The blood trail led down Highway 155 to a logging road to where the suspects field dressed and skinned the moose. Officers discovered the gut pile, the moose hide and the back straps hung over a tree. There was no moose season on at the time, and hunting is prohibited in a road corridor game preserve by everyone.
