On February 7, 2023, Beauval Conservation Officers were conducting a snowmobile patrol on Canoe Lake when they came across an unmarked net inside the federal fishery closure. This closure was implemented in 1981 to all fishing due to decreasing walleye spawning stock.
Officers determined that the net was well within the closed area, which extends 2.4km into Canoe Lake. Officers pulled the net, which contained 32 fish. Officers collected some evidence but are looking for any information relating to this offence.
