On December 1st, 2019 Prince Albert Conservation Officers received information regarding a mule deer buck which had been shot and left waste just East of St. Louis, SK. Officers investigated the scene and located the dead animal and believe it may have been a case of mistaken identity. There was no open season for mule deer on this date and the hunter may have mistaken the mule deer for a White-tailed deer. Hunters who mistakenly shoot a wrong species are required to field dress the animal so it does not spoil and report it immediately to a local Conservation Officer. Conservation Officers encourage hunters to be honest when it comes to mistaken shot wildlife.
