On December 30th, 2020, Humboldt Conservation Officers received a call that a mule deer fawn had been located in a yard within the community of Leroy, Saskatchewan. The fawn was sent for testing and was found to have been shot in the stomach by a small caliber bullet. This would have been a fatal injury and would have taken a long time for the animal to succumb to its injuries. Officers believe this may be related to a White-tailed buck that was shot near the same community on June 21st, 2020, also with a small caliber bullet. There was no deer season on during either of these occurrences and both deer were left to waste. View the related case here.
