SaskTIP Crime of the Month – March 2021


On January 27th, 2021, Wadena Conservation Officers received information regarding a Great Grey owl which had been shot and killed near Whitesand Lake, South of Margo, SK. The owl was observed alive earlier in the day on January 26th. Shots were heard in the area at approximately 5:30pm later that day. Conservation Officers investigated the area and located the dead owl in a tree. In Saskatchewan it is illegal for anyone to shoot, kill or trap a bird of prey, including hawks, falcons and owls. Anyone caught doing so may be fined up to $2800 and face a loss of hunting privileges or equipment used in the commission of the offence.
