On October 14, 2023, Spiritwood Conservation Officers received a Turn in Poachers call that a lynx kitten had been left hanging in a tree on the Boundary Road, approximately 3.5 miles southeast of the community of Chitek Lake. Upon investigation it was determined that the kitten had been shot and left to waste in a fur conservation block. It is believed that the kitten was shot approximately one week prior. There was no fur season on for lynx at that time.
