On November 23, 2025, Spiritwood Conservation Officers were patrolling near Rabbit Lake, SK and located a shot and left cow elk. Evidence of a second elk being harvested was located near the scene. On November 26, 2025, officers returned to the location and located a second shot and left cow elk in the tree line. Officers believe that the responsible person(s) were shooting into a herd of elk and were potentially unaware that they had shot and killed multiple animals.

Spiritwood officers are requesting the responsible person to come forward and turn themselves in.
