On November 26, 2025, Nipawin Conservation Officers received information regarding a cow elk that had been shot and left to waste, approximately 1 mile east and 4 miles south of Garrick, SK. Officers arrived on scene and collected evidence. It does not appear that any edible meat was harvested. There was an antlerless elk hunting season on at the time.

A cash reward of up to $2000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the individual responsible.
