On May 19th, 2025, Moose Jaw Conservation Officers were made aware of a small mesh gill net left along the shoreline of the Buffalo Pound Lake dam in the Buffalo Pound Lake Provincial Park. The gill net was left behind with other garbage. It is unlawful to net fish in the following manner:
– without being licenced for the specified waterbody.
– to impede more than 2/3 of any river or channel with a net.
– to fish with a mesh size smaller than the legal size specific to the waterbody or possess a small mesh net within 500m of that waterbody.
– to fish in any manner within 23m downstream of any dam or fishway.
Conservation Officers collected evidence from the scene and are asking the public for any further information that may assist in their investigation. If anyone observed any unusual or suspicious activity, vehicles, or individuals in the area around that time that may assist in the investigation, please call the Turn-In-Poachers and Polluters hotline at 1-800-667-7561.
