On May 21, 2026, at approximately 3:30PM, Stony Rapids conservation officers discovered a significant amount of wasted fish at a camping area on the north side of Wapata Lake. Officers found 15 whole whitefish, 2 whole northern pike, and 7 whole suckers left to waste. There was also a large pile of filleted fish and discarded parts, that appeared to be mostly walleye and suckers. Officers believe that these fish were dumped at this location sometime between 1:00PM on May 17 and 3:30PM on May 21.
