On July 31, 2023, Big River Conservation Officers received information regarding a cow moose that was shot and left to waste in a slough. This occurred about 2km north of Big River, off of Range Road 3075. Officers were able to collect some evidence at the scene, and believe that this happened on July 30, 2023, between the hours of 6:30pm and 7pm. There was no moose hunting season at the time.
