On November 17, 2024, Melfort Conservation Officers received a Turn in Poachers call regarding a young bull moose that was shot and left to waste. The moose was located in a field 3 miles east and .5 miles north of Crystal Springs, or approximately 6.5km SW of Struthers Lake Regional Park. Evidence showed a vehicle had driven up to and away from the poached animal. It is believed that the moose was shot sometime between the evening of Friday, November 15 and the evening of Saturday, November 16, 2024. Conservation officers were able to collect some evidence at the scene but need the publics assistance in helping identify who may be responsible.
