On August 23, 2025, Estevan Conservation Officers became aware of a bull moose that had been unlawfully harvested south of Benson, SK at land location NW 33-04-08 W2. The suspects had driven through and damaged two standing wheat fields and one standing canola field. The bull moose had been dragged a short distance through the wheat field before being field dressed. Only the head and gut pile remained. The investigation also found a possible second kill site, leading officers to believe that a second moose may have been harvested, and an empty box of “Player’s” cigarettes with Manitoba stamps. The moose are believed harvested between 6pm on August 22 and 8am on August 23.


A cash reward of up to $2000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the individuals involved.
